Review of Prof Jayasekera Santhi’s book “Tradition and Modernity in Indian Cinema”
I would like to express my great joy over the recently published book by Professor Jayasekera Santhi “Tradition and Modernity in Indian Cinema”, which has become an important milestone in the study of Indian cinema. Indian cinema is currently a very interesting phenomenon in the world cinema process. Professor Jayasekera Santhi’s study is characterised by deep and meticulous analysis, while at the same time the book is written in simple and easy language, making it accessible to the widest possible readership.
It is doubly gratifying that this study by an expert on Indian cinema is written in Russian. This gives the domestic reader an opportunity to learn a lot about the multifaceted and original cinema, which is loved all over the world. I am sure that this book will serve to strengthen cultural ties between Russia and India.
